Lampard Admits Frustration with Chelsea’s Current Situation

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has admitted that he is frustrated with the club’s current situation. The Blues played out to a 2-2 draw against Sheffield United during their most recent Premier League game last weekend. They looked on course to record their second consecutive victory of the season as they led the game 2-0 at one point after Tammy Abraham bagged a hat-trick but they eventually blew their lead and Chris Wilder’s men showed fortitude to come back.

Tammy Abraham a Rare Highlight for Chelsea

With Matchday 4 of the Premier League season done and dusted, the Blues do not look like they are capable of challenging for a top four finish this season. They have only won won game under Frank Lampard thus far, and that came against newly promoted Norwich City. With all due respect to the Canaries, one would expect a team which wants to challenge for a top four finish to comprehensively defeat them.

Will Chelsea’s Preseason Spell Success or Defeat?

Chelsea placed third in the Premier League last season, but after falling so far behind Liverpool and Manchester City, they’ll want a better performance in the year to come. With standouts like Willian, Salah and Loftus-Cheek staying for the next season, the squad looks strong. But amid rumors of Hazard leaving during Chelsea’s two-window transfer ban, the club will look for the squad to go above and beyond for a good result this season.

Chelsea’s Betting Tips and Odds for the Super Cup

More history is being made in England. The Super Cup will be contested between Chelsea and Liverpool. For the longest time, the Spanish clubs have been competing for the Super Cup which is about 15 times. In the second place, the Italians have contested for it nine times while England has only had seven chances. The 44th edition of the competition will be held in Istanbul.

What Should Chelsea’s Ambition Be Next Season?

Chelsea are one of the biggest clubs in the world, but there is a feeling this summer things could change at Stamford Bridge… for good. There is a transfer ban over the Blues, Maurizio Sarri has left and so has star player Eden Hazard. Meanwhile, in Frank Lampard, they have appointed a manager who has just one year of experience in management, and that too in the second tier. The feeling among many Chelsea fans is that this could be a crucial summer in the future of the London club.

Can Chelsea Beat the Odds Next Season?

Despite a top-four finish, making the Carabao Cup final and winning the Europa League this season there has still been a bit of a sour taste left by the season as a whole. It has felt like Sarri has been under pressure almost the entire season, this came to a head when Kepa undermined his authority in the Carabao Cup.

Two Players Who Could Be Entering Their Final Season for Chelsea

Chelsea will need experienced players to be at the forefront and guide the younger talent next season. Realistically, fans cannot expect the Blues to win major silverware next term, though they can expect the club to lay down the foundation for young stars to come through the ranks. The following are two players who are likely to be playing their final season at Stamford Bridge next term.

1. Olivier Giroud

Had the transfer ban not been in place, it is likely that the Blues would have not triggered the option to keep Giroud for a further season. As thing stand, it is uncertain whether Gonzalo Higuain will remain at the club beyond this summer. This could mean that Giroud could end up being the only experienced specialist striker in the team. The Frenchman did not get regular game time in the Premier League during the past season but was an important part of the Europa League triumph as he scored 11 goals from 14 appearances in Europe’s second-tier club competition. Giroud may be past his prime but he will have an important role to play for the West Londoners next season.

2. David Luiz

Luiz was a key part of the Blues defence this past season. He, along with Antonio Rudiger, was used as first-choice centre-back throughout the season. Luiz signed a new two-year contract with the Blues in May. At 32 years old, he still has a lot left in him and may have to play a big role for the club next season on and off the field. If however, his body ends up giving up on him or he ends up being overlooked in favour of a younger centre-back, next season could end up being his final one with the Blues. It remains to be seen if Andreas Christensen will be favoured over Luiz next season.
