Chelsea Captain Offers Advice to Out-of-Favour Pulisic

Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta has advised his team-mate Christian Pulisic to remain positive. The American arrived at Stamford Bridge during the summer from Borussia Dortmund and has had a less than ideal start to life with the West London club. Pulisic has so far played four times in the Premier League for the Blues and has only notched one assist. He has so far been unable to adapt to the Premier League. It is still early though and as was seen by his spell in Germany, the 21-year-old has plenty of potential so it would be dangerous to write him off immediately.

Lampard Assures Pulisic of His Importance

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has assured attacker Christian Pulisic that he is an important member of the club’s squad. The American arrived at Stamford Bridge during the January transfer window from Borussia Dortmund. He was loaned back to the Bundesliga club for the second half of last season before joining the Blues permanently during the summer.

Giroud Refuses To Rule Out MLS Move

Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has refused to rule out the possibility of moving to the Major Soccer League. The Frenchman joined the Blues from Arsenal during the January 2018 transfer window. He arrived at the club at a time during which Alvaro Morata was struggling for form and when the West London giants were clearly in need of additional firepower upfront.

Alvaro Morata Opens Up On His Time with Chelsea

Atletico Madrid striker Alvaro Morata has admitted that his time with Chelsea was not good. The Spaniard joined the Blues during the summer of 2017 whilst the club was managed by Antonio Conte and was brought in as a replacement for Diego Costa who was deemed surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge during the same summer. The 26-year-old initially started off well at Chelsea but he ultimately failed to score goals on a regular basis and was definitely not suited to leading the line for the club. All in all, he went on to score just 16 goals in the Premier League from 47 appearances for the club.

Jordan Henderson: Chelsea Saw the Best of Reds

Liverpool star Jordan Henderson believes that Chelsea saw the best of his side last weekend. The Reds went on to record a 2-1 victory over the Blues at Stamford Bridge. Frank Lampard’s side may have gone down which is always disappointing but the result was not all that bad.  The West Londoners were largely competitive against arguably the best side in the English top flight at the moment and made Jurgen Klopp’s side fight extremely hard to secure the three points.

Lampard Says That Abraham Can Learn From Chelsea Legend

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has said that striker Tammy Abraham can learn a lot from Blues club legend Didier Drogba. The 21-year-old has been one of the stars for Lampard’s side so far and exceeded expectations. Thus far, he has managed to score several goals in the League from just six games. The highlight for him so far was his hat-rick against Norwich City. Due to the prowess which he is showing at such a young age, Abraham has drawn comparisons to Drogba as well as former England striker Wayne Rooney. He should be introduced to the Three Lions squad soon as cover for Harry Kane based on his current level of performances.

“It’s normal that the top strikers are judged on goals, and the next level of that is: do you score goals against the big teams,” said Lampard as quoted by The Guardian.

“I understand that because against someone like [Virgil] Van Dijk, a defence like Liverpool, a team like Liverpool, maybe it’s harder to create chances.

“So it’s what can you do individually to try and create them, and how clinical can you be after that. He’s shown great signs this season but it will be another test on the way and it’s not the be all and end all day and we make our judgements after this. But for the top strikers like Didier, we all remember the amount of times he scored in finals and semi-finals and really important games and I think, quite rightly, players are judged on that.

Abraham could be the best Blues striker since Drogba

The Blues have had a difficult time finding a solid number nine since the departure of Drogba. Since then, they have tried out the likes of Diego Costa, Alvaro Morata, Gonzalo Higuain and Olivier Giroud. Costa did show flashes of brilliance and had the technical ability to become a great player at Stamford Bridge but he lacked loyalty and desire to remain at the club. After failing to fully settle into life in England, Costa was eventually granted his wish and made a return to Spain with Atletico Madrid.

Morata and Higuain failed to score goals on a regular basis and the club opted not to keep them. Giroud has been a relative success when considering that his role has always been to be a good cover option up front rather than to lead the line on a regular basis. The veteran was also instrumental in terms of helping the Blues to win last seasons Europa League but he will be unlikely to remain with the team beyond next summer.

Abraham has the technical ability to become a great at Stamford Bridge. He is also a boyhood product of the Blues and as such, may have a desire to remain with the club for a long-time.

Lampard Backs Abraham for England Success

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has backed striker Tammy Abraham to get called up to the England national team following his impressive start to the season. The youngster has so far scored several goals in the English Premier League from five games and is jointly on the top of the scorers’ charts along with Manchester City star Sergio Aguero.

Mourinho On Whether Lampard Can Succeed as Manager

Former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho believes that Frank Lampard has what it takes to succeed as Blues manager this season. The 41-year-old Lampard was surprisingly appointed as the West London club’s manager during the summer after Maurizio Sarri opted to resign and take on the role of Juventus manager. Some such as myself felt that it would have been better for the Blues to go with a more experienced candidate such as Rafa Benitez who has a proven track record of working well with limited resources as the Blues have had to do so far this season due to their two window transfer ban.
