La Liga giants Barcelona are considering another bid for the Chelsea and Brazilian midfielder Willian ahead of the January transfer window.

Barca are said to be keeping tabs on Willian, who has yet to sign a new contract with the Blues. The Brazilian international will be available for free in the summer next year. He had been under the radar of Barcelona for almost a decade since his early days with Shakhtar Donetsk. According to reports, Willian is not signing any new contract with the Blues and this could be the best shot for Barcelona to land the Brazilian.

Willian refused to sign a contract extension and cold begin negotiating a free transfer by January 2020. His current contract will run only until June 30, 2020. The situation at Stamford Bridge allegedly is not making things easy for Frank Lampard and Chelsea.

However, Willian’s age may be the only issue that Barcelona has to think over. The Brazilian turned 31 recently, and by the time Barcelona will land him, he will be 32, and the Spanish club want to focus more on younger players.

The Brazilian joined the Blues in the summer of 2013. He was about to sign for Tottenham when he decided to go to Stamford Bridge instead. He then made 299 appearances for Chelsea, scoring 53 goals and 53 assists.

The Catalan giant are so impressed with Willian in the last six years and made numerous offers to bring him to Nou Camp and are said to be in the range of €60 million (£53 million).

However, if things go south for Barca, signing Willian may not be their priority as they are also eyeing other players like Napoli ace Fabian Ruiz. But if they can bring him in for free, then the Brazilian’s experience would make him a great buy.

Willian has made seven appearances for the London giant this season and found the back of the net once.
