Former Chelsea Assistant Boss Zola Reveals Plans

Former Chelsea assistant manager Gianfranco Zola has revealed that he would like a top job in England. Zola who served as assistant boss of the Blues to Maurizio Sarri last season was axed by the West London club this summer after they opted to appoint club legend Frank Lampard as their new manager. Lampard is set to bring in new staff along with him which could be set to include a few other Blues legends.

Lampard Reveals Surprising Managerial Influence

New Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has admitted that his managerial approach is influenced by former Blues boss Jose Mourinho. The 41-year-old was appointed as manager of the West London giants last week. His arrival has resulted in a state of euphoria among fans. Lampard is a Chelsea great, a clean-cut figure on and off the field and it will be hoped that he can successfully navigate the club next season amidst their two-window transfer ban.

Three Big Players Who Have Been Released By Chelsea This Summer

Chelsea recently released a statement indicating the five players who were released upon the expiration of their contracts. Goalkeeper Eduardo and youngster Kyle Scott were not well known to the Premier League audience and their departures will be largely overshadowed by the three experienced campaigners who were released by the team.

The following are three notable players released by the Blues.

1. Gary Cahill

After making just two Premier League appearances last season, it was evident that Cahill had no future at Stamford Bridge. A parting of ways was the best thing for both club and player. Cahill served the West Londoners with distinction during his several years at the club, helping it to win two Premier League titles, two FA Cups, one League Cup, one Champions League and two Europa Leagues.

He was the successor to John Terry as club captain which indicates that he has been an important leader within the team. At 33, Cahill can still play at the highest level and he has been linked with moves to boyhood club Aston Villa as well as Arsenal.

2. Rob Green

Green joined the Blues last summer as cover for Kepa Arrizabalaga and Willy Caballero in goal. He did not play a single competitive game for the club. He however has been a household game in the Premier League for the better part of the past 20-years and was regarded as one of the best English keepers during his time with West Ham.

Green was a former first-choice keeper for England at the 2010 World Cup.

3. Gonzalo Higuain

Higuain is definitely the most surprising name on the list. The Argentine arrived at Stamford Bridge in January and was expected to add firepower to the club up front after Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata failed to find the back of the net on a regular basis. Higuain was rather underwhelming during his six months in West London as he went on to score just five goals from 14 Premier League games.

Former Chelsea Striker Names Greatest Teammate

Former Chelsea striker Fernando Torres has named the greatest player that he played with. Torres, who is currently on the books of Japanese club Sagan Tosu and will retire in August, had the privilege of turning out with many modern-day greats during his successful 18-year career. During his career, he was teammates with the likes of Frank Lampard, Dirk Kuyt, Xabi Alonso and Diego Forlan.

Former Chelsea star Fernando Torres has said that he believes that Eden Hazard can become the best footballer in the world at Real Madrid. The Belgian international ended his seven-year association with the Blues this summer by putting pen to paper and signing for Los Blancos. He is expected to serve as a key player for Zinedine Zidane’s side next season with many tipping him as the direct replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo who left the club during the summer of 2018.
