Frank Lampard Focuses on the Positives From Man City Defeat

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard believes that his side can take plenty of positives from their 2-1 defeat against Manchester City on Saturday. The result meant that the Blues recent good run of form came to an end. They can however still hold their heads eye as they were largely competitive against the reigning Champions of England. The game also proved that they are pretty much capable of being competitive against any top side in the World. Prior to this season, many expected the West Londoners to struggle for a top four finish, let alone be competitive against the best sides.

Abraham Keen To Learn From England Striker

Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham has revealed that he is keen to learn from Tottenham Hotspur and England star Harry Kane. Abraham and Kane were selected as teammates for England’s most recent squad. Both players went on to find the back of the net during their country’s 7-0 mauling of Montenegro last Thursday. Kane netted a hattrick while Abraham managed to bag his first national team goal during the 84th minute.

Chelsea Lining Up Potential Moves For Two Strikers

Chelsea are reportedly lining up moves for two strikers during the January transfer window, according to a report which was published by The Sun. As things stand, the Blues will not be allowed to make any signings during the January transfer window in lieu of their two-window transfer ban. They do however plan to appeal the ban and could be set to make signings if they do so to bolster their squad ahead of the second half of the season.

Chelsea Goalkeeper Named as One of 10 Yashin Trophy Contenders

Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga has been named as one of the ten contenders for the first Ballon d’Or for goalkeepers, the Yashin Trophy.

The Yashin Trophy was unveiled as part of the main Ballon d’Or award this year. It was announced last month by the organiser of this awarding body that the keeper’s Ballon d’Or will be given for the very first time this year.

The award is named after the Soviet international goalie Lev Yashin. He was the only goalkeeper to have won the main Ballon d’Or back in 1963.

The Spanish keeper got the 2019 Europa League at the end of the season as a Blues player. He is joined by three other goalies from the Premier League, Alisson Becker from Liverpool, Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris and Ederson Moraes from Manchester City.

Completing the list are Samir Handonovic from Inter Milan, Manuel Neuer of Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak, Ajax pride, Andre Onana, Juventus Wojciech Szczesny, and Barcelona’s Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

Former Chelsea player, Eden Hazard is also listed for the main Ballon d’Or award. He joined by 29 other players across the globe. If he get to win this award, he will be named as a Chelsea player as he had played during the first half of the year before leaving Stamford Bridge for Real Madrid.

Winners for the Ballon d’Or and the Yashin Trophy will be on December 2 in Paris.

France Manager Issues Ultimatum to Blues Striker

French national team boss Didier Deschamps believes that striker Olivier Giroud must play more football on a club level. The veteran has been deprived of game time for Chelsea this season as manager Frank Lampard has opted to deploy the young Tammy Abraham as his first-choice striker. On paper, the Englishman warrants being the Blues first-choice option to lead the line and he has so far been stellar, even drawing comparisons to Wayne Rooney and Didier Drogba.

“You know, Olivier suffers his situation. Before January, nothing will move,” Deschamps told a press conference as reported by Sky Sports.

“After, it will be up to him to see. I hope he will have more playing time.

“But we cannot take away his goals, his good performances. He scores, he makes others play well.

“He knows he is under pressure, but he always responds.”

Giroud has been in good form for France

Even though he has lacked game time for Chelsea, Giroud has been in good form for country recently. The 33-year-old found the back of the net during his sides 1-1 draw against Turkey on Monday and the goal was his third in four games. He also managed to bag the winner for the 2018 World Cup Champions during their victory against Iceland last Friday.

It is hard to see Giroud departing Chelsea in January

The probability of Giroud leaving Stamford Bridge at the end of the season is high but it is unlikely that he will leave the club during the January transfer window. Chelsea need an apt back-up option to Abraham and letting Giroud leave could be problematic as it could leave them short of options.

The Blues will likely not be able to sign any new recruits in January in lieu of their two-window transfer ban.

Even if he struggles to gain game time for the Blues, it will be hard to see Deschamps leaving Giroud out of his 2020 European Championship squad. The player offers plenty of experience and is still a good impact substitute even though he may not be as effective as a starter. The French will be favourites to win the Euros for the first time since 2000.

Pundit Admits Abraham Proved Him Wrong

Arsenal great Alan Smith has admitted that he had his doubts about whether Tammy Abraham would be able to make it. The youngster has exceeded expectations this season as he has so far scored eight goals from eight League games. He has drawn comparisons to Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney as well as Chelsea legend Didier Drogba.

Chelsea Starlet Reaffirms Commitment to Club

Chelsea youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi has reaffirmed his commitment to the club. The youngster recently penned a new five-year deal with the West London outfit. He was heavily linked with a move to German giants Bayern Munich during the January transfer window and even reportedly handed in a transfer request in order to try and make the transfer happen. In the end, Chelsea ended up declining the advances of the Bavarian giants and Hudson-Odoi stayed put at his boyhood club.
