Chelsea have talked about Bournemouth center-back Marcos Senesi, but they are more interested in younger defensive players. Jeremy Jacquet and Jacobo Ramon are two of the players they are keeping an eye on. The Blues have also sent scouts to watch Toulouse defender Charlie Creswell as they try to strengthen their defence.

Senesi, who will turn 29 in May, has been a regular for Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth team, but he doesn’t fit Chelsea’s current strategy of signing younger players who can be sold for a premium in the future. The Argentine’s contract at the Vitality Stadium ends in June 2026, so he could be available for a small fee or even for free next summer. The west London club, on the other hand, have decided to focus on other things.

Jacquet, a 20-year-old center-back for Rennes, has become one of Ligue 1’s most promising young defenders this season. The French defender is 1.90 meters tall and combines physical presence with technical skill. His contract runs until 2029. Reports say that Real Madrid have watched Jacquet play several times this season, and Manchester United are also keeping an eye on his progress.

Chelsea are also keeping an eye on Jacobo Ramon, a 21-year-old Spanish center-back who joined Como from Real Madrid in July 2025. In the deal, Real Madrid retained a 50% sell-on clause and three buy-back options, which could make any move more difficult. Liverpool, Tottenham, Newcastle, Brighton, and Crystal Palace have all sent scouts to watch Ramon.

The Blues have also sent scouts to France to see Creswell, a 23-year-old English defender who moved from Leeds United to Toulouse in 2024. This season, Creswell has started every Ligue 1 game and played in every game for England at the 2025 Under-21 European Championship.

The Guehi Reconsideration Question Is Still Open After Last Summer’s Ruling Out

Last summer, Chelsea looked into Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi, 25, but decided against signing him. However, things could change as his contract situation becomes more pressing. Guehi’s contract at Selhurst Park ends on June 30, 2026, and Liverpool are still the favorite to sign him. The defender was close to making a £35 million move to Anfield on deadline day in August, but the deal fell through.

Chelsea sold Guehi to Palace in 2021. They kept the right to match any future offers and the ability to make money on the sale. If the Blues change their minds about their position from last summer, that matching clause could give them a way back into talks. According to reports, Liam Rosenior, the new manager at Chelsea, has asked the club to complete the signing of Guehi. This suggests that the defender could be back on the agenda at Stamford Bridge.

Manchester City, Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Barcelona are all keeping an eye on Guehi’s situation. Bayern Munich can now talk to him about a pre-contract agreement because he is in the last six months of his deal. This month, Manchester City are getting ready to make an offer for Guehi, but they don’t want to pay Palace’s asking price of £35 million. Palace are reportedly asking for £40 million for a January sale, even though the player will be a free agent in six months.
