Jorrel Hato has started his medical at Chelsea before moving from Ajax for good. The two clubs have signed all the papers, and the Dutch defender is expected to sign a contract that lasts until June 2032. The deal is now official, and it brings one of the best young defenders in Europe to Stamford Bridge.

The 19-year-old has already made news all over Europe with his grown-up play in the Eredivisie. Hato, who can play both centre-back and left-back, made his first appearance for Ajax’s senior team when he was just 17 years old. He quickly became a leader in the backline. He was named Eredivisie Talent of the Year for his performances and even led Ajax in European competition, making him the youngest person to do so.

Chelsea has been trying to get Hato for weeks. The London club’s first offers were turned down, but they finally came to an agreement with Ajax on a transfer fee of about £35.5 million, with extra payments bringing the total to about €43–46 million. Ajax has also added a sell-on clause, which guarantees them a share of any future transfer profit.

Jorrel Hato Prepared for Chelsea Move

Chelsea and new manager Enzo Maresca are making it clear that they want to do this. Hato’s arrival is part of a long-term plan at Cobham, as the team is already going through a generational change. At first, he will be behind Marc Cucurella and Levi Colwill, but because he is so talented and can play a lot of positions, he could get first-team chances soon.

Hato is even more ready because he has played for the Netherlands at the senior level. He is a good fit for Chelsea’s current rebuild because he is mature both on and off the pitch, even though he is still a teenager. He will be revealed and join the team for pre-season training after his medical exam is done later today.

Chelsea fans are waiting for official pictures of Hato in blue, but the message is clear: the club isn’t just spending money; they’re building. And Jorrel Hato is now a big part of that vision.
