Chelsea are working hard to sign Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig and Jorrel Hato from Ajax. They have agreed on personal terms with both players, and talks are getting more serious as Thursday’s deadline approaches.
After talking directly with Chelsea, Simons, one of the best young playmakers in Europe, has agreed to join the team. The 22-year-old, who moved to Leipzig from Paris Saint-Germain last season, is looking for a new challenge, and the Premier League is where he wants to go.
Chelsea and Leipzig are now in the formal bid stage of talks. The German club are expected to ask for about £60 million for his signature. Fabrizio Romano said that talks between clubs will continue, revealing:
“Chelsea will keep pushing for Xavi Simons into Thursday and more.”
Chelsea Close to Completing Hato Deal
The Blues are also getting closer to signing 18-year-old defender Jorrel Hato, who has already agreed to a salary package and told Ajax he wants to leave. Reports suggest that the Dutch defender is excited about moving up to the Premier League and believes that Stamford Bridge would be an ideal place for him to develop.
Chelsea think he is worth £35 million, but Ajax wants closer to £50 million. Although there is a gap, both teams get along well, and there is hope that a deal can be reached soon. Fabrizio Romano said, on this matter:
“On Hato, I can tell you that yes, he’s agreed salary and contract but also he’s told the Ajax staff he wants to join Chelsea too. Chelsea want to do business at around £35m while Ajax want more, but clubs have good relationship.”
Simons would bring creativity and versatility to the midfield, while Hato would bring youth and defensive capabilities. If everyone agrees on personal terms, the last few hours before the week ends could see both players locked in a deal worth more than £95 million.
