Callum Hudson-Odoi has reportedly reached an agreement with Chelsea over signing a new deal and will now be set to remain at Stamford Bridge until the summer of 2024.
The youngster is set for a bumper pay rise and will now earn around £120 000 per week, according to a report which was published by The Guardian.
This is a major victory for Chelsea
Hudson-Odoi is regarded as one of the brightest young English footballers. He is not short of admirers and was strongly linked with a move to Bayern Munich during the January transfer window. Reports even suggested that he wanted to move to the Bundesliga after growing frustrated at the lack of first-team opportunities which he was given under Maurizio Sarri. It is hard to fault Hudson-Odoi for wanting to leave Chelsea at the time. He would have been influenced by the successes of players such as Reiss Nelson and Jadon Sancho in Germany. In addition to this, Chelsea do not have the best reputation in terms of how they treat young talent but things are certainly improving under Frank Lampard with the likes of Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori being given opportunities and impressing this season.
Had it not been for an achilles injury, Hudson-Odoi probably would have featured regularly this season under Lampard. He is however in the final stages of his recovery and fans of the West London giants can look forward to seeing him in action during the coming weeks. Not only is the deal a sense that Chelsea are now willing to give youngsters a chance, but it will allow the club to potentially garner a high fee if they end up choosing to sell the player one day.
The deal means that Chelsea will also have an opportunity to get the best out of Hudson-Odoi who is capable of developing into a world-class talent.
