Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck has said that he is hoping that Christian Pulisic will help to boost the profile of Chelsea in the United States. The youngster was signed by the Blues during the January transfer window and from Borussia Dortmund and immediately loaned back to the Bundesliga club until the end of the season.
Though he still has flaws in his game, the American international has the ingredients required to succeed in the English top-flight and develop into a world-class player in the future. Despite being just 20-years-old, he already boasts more than 100 competitive appearances for Dortmund and he has already featured 25 times for his country, scoring ten goals. Most players Pulisic’s age are still working their way into regular first-team football and only have a handful of appearances at the highest level to their name. He is certainly a cut above the rest.
In addition to being able to become a key player for the side, Pulisic can also be of marketing benefit to the Blues. He can help them to win more support from the growing American football market. As the face of American soccer, he will also help the club to gain more business investment and sponsorship deals from North America.
“He’s a personable boy. He’s well-liked in this country,” Buck said as quoted by The Washington Post.
“So, of course I would expect him when we come here and play some friendly matches, which is what our objective is in the summer of 2020. Then yes, I think he will he will be helpful.”
