AS Roma’s Cengiz Under is currently one of the best young attackers in Europe. He is fast and versatile as he is capable of being deployed in various positions. Although he mainly plays on the right-wing, Under can also act as a left winger as well as play behind the striker.
With Eden Hazard’s future at Stamford Bridge looking uncertain, Under could add quality to the attacking department if the Belgian does choose to leave.
The Turkish international, who is nicknamed ‘The Undertaker’, has been impressive since he arrived at Roma from Istanbul Basaksehir in 2017. Under has been in great form for Roma this season, bagging four goals and four assists in all competitions.
Roma will naturally be hesitant to part ways with one of their brightest stars so it may be very difficult to prise away Under in the January transfer window. However, the player himself has previously spoken about his desire to one day play in England.
As quoted by The Sun, he said in 2017: “Among the leagues I want to play in are La Liga, the Bundesliga and the Premier League. But I want to play in the Premier League the most.”
Since the start of the 2017-18 season, Chelsea have often struggled in the final third with the team often being a bit to over-reliant on Hazard. During the games in which Hazard has not been able to perform, the club has looked devoid of ideas in the final third.
With his good crossing and passing ability, Under would add creativity to the Chelsea attack. Considering he is also just 21 years old, he would be a good long-term investment for the club. Chelsea should try to sign Under in January and if they cannot secure him then, they must make a move in the summer. He has the potential to make a real impact for the club.
