One of the ongoing transfer sagas of this summer has been Real Madrid’s reported pursuit of Eden Hazard from Chelsea and as that looks to have petered out, Los Blancos are supposedly interested in bringing one of his team-mates to the Bernabeu.

Willian is one of the Spanish giants’ primary targets and with Manchester United stalling in their attempt to sign him, the door is wide open for Julen Lopetegui to make his first signing for the starting XI. It might turn out to be the perfect move for the player as well with the Brazilian failing to feature regularly for the Blues last season and potentially wanting out of Stamford Bridge.

Although, with a new boss at the helm, Willian might be persuaded to stay as he could be a serious member of Maurizio Sarri’s plans. Despite any chance of a move for Hazard being seriously reduced, if the World Cup star was to leave then it could provide an opening for the former Shakhtar winger to break into the first-team every week.

Fans of the current Champions League holders might seem a little disappointed that they are choosing such a player to replace the departed Cristiano Ronaldo especially as the reported £55 million fee is just over half the amount their star man was sold for. It would seem that more of marquee signing would be preferred by Madridistas and it’s more than understandable but Willian still has the potential to be a world-class footballer.

If the Chelsea winger was to leave this summer, it would be a shame for the players and fans in West London as he is well-respected by both parties alike and has shown on numerous occasions why a club like Real Madrid would be interested in his signature. Not only did the 29-year-old scoop the Players’ Player of the Year Award at the FA Cup winners’ end of season awards in May but he also got his hands on the Goal of the Season Award.
