After winning his third consecutive Champions League winners’ medal, Zinedine Zidane shocked the footballing world by resigning just five days after Los Blancos’ 3-1 victory over Liverpool in Kiev. Arsene Wenger and Mauricio Pochettino were the original front-runners but with both managers ruling themselves out, the Spanish giants turned to Antonio Conte.
The Chelsea boss turned down the role in Madrid and while some pundits have said he is honouring his contract at Stamford Bridge, the fans have a very different opinion. As has been highlighted since the end of a particularly disappointing season for the Blues, the supporters have continued to say that their side’s manager is waiting to be sacked, insinuating that it is the mega pay-off that Conte is holding out for.
Following last term’s performance, despite winning the FA Cup, it is hard to imagine that the former Juventus manager will still be in his position in the Chelsea technical area when the season begins in August. Although, with Roman Abramovich future as owner in danger and an £11 million payoff needed to sack Conte, this stand-off could go on for the duration of the summer.
The whole situation is starting to anger the Blues faithful and a selection of those took to Twitter to voice their frustration.
Please no one say Conte in again. He cares 0.00% for Chelsea Football Club. He stayed a year when he wanted to leave, challenging the board to sack him. Instead of going when he wanted to, he held on, sabotaged a season & now is rejecting Madrid – all to get a payoff. Mercenary.

Only reason why he is still here today is because of the money , should have been sacked at the beginning of the year in my opinion and that’s why he hasn’t resigned either not that he loves the job that much or respect the club ; For the Money to the detriment of the club #CFC

People say this man loves Chelsea, he clearly doesn't. Man's been trying to get sacked for months now he's got the opportunity to leave he still wants the club to pay the huge lump sum before he leaves? SMH

The names linked with replacing Conte, if he goes, have been changing for the last few months but Maurizio Sarri has stayed as the favourite for a few weeks now despite rumours that a potential appointment was off the cards. It seems that the longer this whole situation goes on for, the more frustrated Chelsea fans are getting with some supporters who wanted to see the Italian boss stay this summer now wanting him to leave.
It is quickly turning into a catastrophe of a summer for the FA Cup winners as their title rivals are strengthening, leaving the Blues behind.
