Former Chelsea defender Scott Minto has shared some praise about Marc Cucurella after the full-back’s magnificent display against Liverpool. The Blues were victorious over the Premier League champions last weekend, beating them 3-1. However, Cucurella stood out with his performance.
The full-back has been key for the Blues this season. He has been a massive factor of late, coming in clutch in important games and helping them to three consecutive Premier League wins. Scott Minto was pleased with Cucurella’s work, telling talkSPORT:
“Something happens when he’s in the side. When things weren’t going well through that run, he was one of the very few players who was making something happen either from left-back or going into inverted midfield or almost playing like a flying winger.
“He scores goals as well and he’s only small and sometimes with his head. Something happens when he’s on the pitch, and it’s one of those where if you’re an opposition fan or player, he probably is an annoying little so-and-so, but you love him being on your side.”
Minto finished:
“And do you know what? I really respect him as well for how tough it was at the start of his Chelsea career. He’s turned it around for both the club and country.”
Chelsea Beat Liverpool at Stamford Bridge
Chelsea enjoyed a resounding 3-1 win against Premier League champions Liverpool at Stamford Bridge. It has continued their dream of making the Champions League next season, which will need a top-five finish in the league.
Enzo Fernández broke the deadlock on three minutes, taking an assist from Pedro Neto. The Blues went two up in the second half as Palmer whipped in a cross that led to an own goal by Jarell Quansah. Virgil van Dijk found one for the Reds in the 85th minute, but it was a penalty from Palmer in stoppage time that sealed glory for the home side.
Now, the Blues sit in fifth place on the Premier League table. They know that a win in their next league match – an away game against Newcastle United, will improve their chances of Champions League qualificiation.
