Arne Slot’s Liverpool will be in London to visit Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. The Blues will be bent on ruining the party for the newly crowned English Premier League champions. With Champions League qualification on the line, there is a need to win, and they might have a solid chance to do so, as well.

Since Liverpool have already clinched their 20th league title victory, Slot has decided to rotate. In his press conference, the Dutch tactician said:

“There will be a certain rotation in the upcoming games. My lineups will be different towards the one we’ve had mostly during the last 10 months. We’re not gonna change everyone but there will be a few players that come into the team.”

This will give some less-than-key players an opportunity to face the Blues. It is possible that the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, and Ryan Gravenberch will be rested. Squad players like Harvey Elliott and Wataru Endo could be picked for their first Premier League start this season instead.

Chelsea are fifth in the league and level on points with Nottingham Forest. With their visitors weakened, they can clinch all three points in a must-win game to facilitate their Champions League qualification.

The Blues will give Liverpool a guard of honour for winning the title before kick-off. But from that moment onwards, three points will be on Maresca’s mind.

Enzo Maresca Confirms Chelsea Will Present Guard of Honor to Liverpool

The Blues will pay tribute to newly crowned Premier Champions Liverpool through guard of honor at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, Blues head coach Enzo Maresca confirmed. Last weekend, the Reds coasted to their 20th top-flight title in England by defeating Tottenham Hotspur 5-1.

This is their first Premier League title under the new manager Arne Slot, who only took the helm from Jürgen Klopp at the end of the 2023-24 season. Speaking in his press conference, Enzo Maresca said:

“I don’t think we need that to understand how good it is to win the Premier League… But for sure when you are there, probably in their mind [the players] are thinking: ‘I would like one day to be there.'”
