Cole Palmer has been roasted on social media after failing to score in his last 17 games. This comes after the playmaker struggled in the final third in Chelsea’s 1-0 win over Everton at Stamford Bridge today.
Palmer enjoyed a prolific start to the season, enjoying a truly remarkable return of 14 goals in his first 23 games. However, the goals have pretty much dried up, and the 22-year-old has yet to find answers in the final third. It hasn’t been a lack of trying, though. He has taken an impressive 41 shots during his goalless stretch, but he has converted none.
It could well be a confidence issue or a technical issue, but Cole Palmer was unrecognizably subdued in the Everton game. He did not take a single shot at goal in the 89 minutes he spent on the pitch, but focused on creating chances for his teammates instead. He registered 44 touches, completed both dribble attempts he attempted, and created two chances.
However, social media noticed his lacklustre performance when it came to shooting. They mocked him for his goalscoring drought with posts like these:
Cole Palmer is the first one and a half season wonder in PL history 🔥🔥 pic.twitter.com/Tz8sjugNw7

Palmer 16 games without a Prem goal and he's the player with the most shots since his last goal. How do him and Foden get away with these kind of things?

Chelsea fans compared Palmer to Saka and lost. After that they compared him to Odegaard and they lost again 😭😭😭

Chelsea Clinch All Three Points in Narrow Everton Victory
Chelsea will be pleased to have clinched all three points in a narrow 1-0 victory over Everton at Stamford Bridge today (April 26). The Blues have Nicolas Jackson to thank, as the striker’s first-half goal propelled them back into the top five.
He powered a low, driven shot into the bottom corner with just 27 minutes on the clock to open the scoring for the Blues and hand them their all-important win. They did dominate possession and should have scored more goals, but they did not have the required clinical edge to seal off the game.
In the second half, Everton pushed for an equalizer, but Chelsea held on fairly well. They stopped the Toffees’ advances quite well, and goalkeeper Robert Sanchez will be glad to have ended the day with a clean sheet under his belt.
