Chelsea and Barrow have met just twice in their shared history, with the Blues remarkably running out 5-0 winners on both occasions.
Chelsea first played Barrow in the FA Cup in January 1948, and it’s of little surprise their most recent encounter was also in cup competition; this time, the EFL Cup (known as the Carabao Cup for sponsorship reasons). The two sides have mostly been at opposing ends of the English football league pyramid, with Barrow currently competing in League Two and the Blues flying high in the Premier League.
Chelsea and Barrow were drawn against each other in the third round of the EFL Cup, and the two sides met at Stamford Bridge on the night of September 24, 2024.
Although the Bluebirds played with determination and optimism, they were outclassed throughout, with Christopher Nkunku securing a hattrick as the home side ran out 5-0 winners once again. Barrow skipper Farman scored an unfortunate own goal, while Pedro Neto rounded off the scorer list.
