Chelsea’s first-ever competitive fixture against Greek heavyweights Panathinaikos came in October 2024 at the iconic Athens Olympic Stadium. The Blues went into the game knowing a strong win would send them top of the Europa Conference League (league stage) table.
In all honesty, Chelsea had blown their opponents away well before the hour mark, with a pair of goals from Joao Felix, plus Mudryk, put the Blues three to the good. A Christopher Nkunku penalty on 59 minutes sent the away side 0-4 up and allowed them to take their foot off the gas.
A Pellistri consolation followed from close range ten minutes later, but it was anything but a spoiler for Enzo Maresca’s side on the night.
