Chelsea are currently doing well. However, they will need to offload and bring in new players next summer if they want to become a side which is worthy of challenging for the League title next season. One area of the Blues first-team which needs reinforcement if the left-back position. Both Marcos Alonso and Davide Zappacosta do not look like they can help the club to win titles.
The following are three players whom the Blues can consider next summer.
1. Ben Chilwell
Chilwell should ideally be a priority target for Frank Lampard’s side. The Englishman is a future star in the making and has an impeccable ability to counter-attack and read the game. He will fit into Lampard’s style of play. He could soon be one of the best left-backs in the World and will help to take the Blues to another level.
2. Danny Rose
Rose has been considered to be one of the best left-backs in the Premier League for many years. At 29-years-old, he is vastly experienced. He has also indicated numerous times before that he could be open to leaving Spurs. Rose would be able to add stability to the Blues back-line. He will also bring in a lot of experience to the club and could be a leader within the dressing room. He likely still has another 4-5 good years of football left in him.
3. Alex Grimaldo
A graduate of Barcelona’s esteemed La Masia academy, Grimaldo has managed to become one of the most highly-rated young left-backs in Europe. The 24-year-old is able to drift centrally and link play which means that he could work well with the likes of Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount. He contributes well towards Benfica attacks and can also hold his own whilst defending.
Grimaldo will be an exciting capture for Lampard’s side.
