Crystal Palace are looking to further strengthen their attack early next year despite occupying sixth position in the Premier League.
The Eagles are planning to make another move for Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi by January of next year. The 26-year-old striker spent half of the last season with the Eagles on loan. He managed to play 13 games and found the back of the net six times for the Eagles.
Roy Hodgson is trying to make a bid for Batshuayi in the January transfer window. The former Three Lions boss is very keen to bolster his attack next year, and believes that the Belgian is the right fit for the job.
However, Frank Lampard may be reluctant in letting the striker go since the Blues would not be able to replace the former Marseille forward due to the current transfer ban slapped against them.
Batshuayi is doing great when used by Lampard, scoring three goals in six games for the Blues this season. The striker came off the bench and was able to score in the 4-1 win against Southampton at St. Mary’s.
However, Lampard’s first choice striker, Tammy Abraham is in such fine condition and in the best goal scoring form so far, putting Batshuayi on the side. Abraham opened the scoring binge against Southampton with a brilliant pass from Callum Hudson-Odoi and looping the ball over Angus Gunn. The goal was Abraham’s 9 in 11 appearances for the Blues, eight of which came from the Premier League matches.
Crystal Palace are hoping that Abraham’s performance would make Chelsea’s boss change his mind and release Batshuayi. The Eagles are banking on Abraham’s performance and hope that Batshuayi can make the move to Selhurst Park next year. Also providing another obstacle for Batshuayi is Olivier Giroud.
