Chelsea youngster Reece James is wanted by Leeds United during the January transfer window, according to a report published by The Sun.

The youngster is a talented player who has a bright future ahead of him. He spent last season on loan with Wigan Athletic and went on to impress as he made 45 appearances for the Latics and scored three goals in the process. James’s heroics from last season saw him being named as the Wigan Athletic Player of the season.

Frank Lampard likely sees a future for the player at Stamford Bridge, hence his decision to include him in the club’s first-team plans for this season.

James will be unlikely to get a lot of game time for the Blues

James has recovered from the ankle injury which ruled him out of action during the earlier phases of this season. However, he is expected to act as cover for Cesar Azpilicueta between now and the end of the season. The Blues captain Azpilicueta is expected to play most games between now and the end of the season. The 30-year-old’s experience is vital especially when considering that Lampard is working with a very young side.

James confidence could take a knock if he has to be consigned to limited game time especially as he is still a young and developing player.

James could benefit from a loan spell at Elland Road

If James moves to Leeds, he will benefit as a player by being able to work with Marcelo Bielsa who is widely regarded as being one of the best tacticians in the World. He will also be playing for a club who have big expectations for this season. The Whites are aiming to win promotion to the Premier League for the first time since 2004. A loan move could be good for all three parties concerned.
