Christian Pulisic has failed to start for the Blues since his summer switch from the Bundesliga side, Borussia Dortmund.
The American winger found himself sitting on the bench for Chelsea when they won their first Premier League game over Brighton and Hove Albion last Saturday. He has been told that he has to work on his game if he wants to play for the Blues.
Pulisic has yet to start a league match for Chelsea since the draw against Sheffield United last August. And despite the £56 million that the big bosses from Stamford Bridge have paid for his services, he has been told to improve his game by Frank Lampard.
Pulisic said that the head coach has told him to keep on working on his game and he has to improve himself during training, and try to get back in the line-up. The American international was only featured in four matches of the Blue’s seven league games this season. Willian and Pedro were preferred ahead of him for the game against Brighton. The coach did not use the American winger for the fourth time in five matches. He was only used during the demolition of League Two side, Grimsby Town in the third round of the Carabao Cup.
Pulisic though is no stranger to this kind of situation, as he was likewise ousted by Jadon Sancho in the starting XI at his former club. He however feels that he can bounce back and fight his way into Lampard’s system.
He said, “In the end I got minutes again and I played well towards the end of the season, so I just have to get my head down and get to work.”
