Liverpool star Jordan Henderson believes that Chelsea saw the best of his side last weekend. The Reds went on to record a 2-1 victory over the Blues at Stamford Bridge. Frank Lampard’s side may have gone down which is always disappointing but the result was not all that bad.  The West Londoners were largely competitive against arguably the best side in the English top flight at the moment and made Jurgen Klopp’s side fight extremely hard to secure the three points.

“Chelsea was a really tough place to come, good team, we had to grind it out, had to give everything and that shows what we’re about as a team”said Henderson as quoted by Goal.

“It’s important, you need character and we’ve got plenty of characters in this team to fight and see games out.

“It was tough, they put a lot of pressure on us and we just need to keep winning, keep getting three points.”

Chelsea fans can take plenty of encouragement from what Henderson has said. It indicates that the Blues albeit having a young side are capable of challenging any of the top sides in the division.

There is no doubt that the younger players from Lampard’s side would have learnt a lot from the game and this will be of benefit to themselves as well as towards Chelsea in future.  Liverpool dominated the first half of the game and went into the break with a 2-0 lead following goals from Trent Alexander-Arnold and Roberto Firmino. Once the Reds went into a commanding position, most would have expected a rout. However, the Blues showed tremendous fortitude to remain competitive and pulled a goal back during the 71st minute through N’Golo Kante. Liverpool however did enough to hold on for the win and secured a valuable three points in the process.

The title looks like it will be Liverpool’s to lose

This season, the title looks like it will be Liverpool’s to lose. Klopp’s side were unlucky to have lost the title last season after finishing just one point short of eventual Champions Manchester City. Chelsea will almost certainly not be title challengers this season but they can aim for a top four position. A top six position will also be acceptable considering the situation which Lampard has had to deal with.
