The return of N’Golo Kante last Sunday showed his importance to the team with his stellar performance. But while he was impressive with his game, a lot of critics are saying that Lampard may be putting Kante at risk. The Chelsea boss must manage Kante’s playing time lest risk him burning out.
The Blues are now turning their attention to the Carabao Cup after losing to Liverpool in the Premier League.
Frank Lampard and his squad will be back in action on Wednesday as they face League Two side Grimsby Town at Stamford Bridge. They will be playing in the same venue where they lost to Liverpool last Sunday. Now the Blues are preparing for the third round stage of the Carabao Cup where they will be featuring youngsters, and Lampard still looking for his win at home as head coach. The Blues failed to win any of their first four matches at home in all competitions this season.
And while they are prepping for this cup, an issue seemed to be brewing.
With lots of games and matches coming up, Lampard needs to utilize his main man wisely. In other words, resting N’Golo Kante in some fixtures and this includes the Carabao Cup.
Chelsea Fans Want to Replace Cesar Azpilicueta as Captain
Lots of Chelsea fans are clamouring for a change in captaincy in the Blues squad. Cesar Azpilicueta has assumed the role as captain after Gary Cahill left Stamford Bridge for Crystal Palace last summer.
However, it appears that some Chelsea fans are not happy with this. The Spaniard had been struggling at the start of the season, and the recent VAR incident against Liverpool did not help him either. This led some fans to believe that he is not the right person for the role.
But who do they really want?
One name is popping up – Jorginho. Lots of fans are now taking to social media to air their sentiments and who they want to be the captain.
Lampard has made no comment regarding this matter.
