Real Madrid are interested in signing Chelsea defensive midfielder N’Golo Kante, according to a report which was published by The Sun. The Frenchman was linked with a move to Los Blancos during the summer transfer window but ended up remaining at the Bridge.
Kante is one of the most highly-rated midfielders in the World. He played the defensive midfielder role to near perfection during Premier League winning campaigns for Leicester City and Chelsea as well as during France’s successful 2018 World Cup campaign.
Kante has a deal with the Blues which runs until the summer of 2023. This essentially means that if he is sold during the summer to Madrid, it will be for an enormous sum of money and one can even speculate that the sale fee might be a World record one.
Kante makes a difference for the Blues
Kante has been unlucky with injury so far this season which has forced him to sit out a few games. Anyone who watches Chelsea regularly will know that there is a significant difference in the team when Kante plays and when he does not. When he is on the field, the team is a more stable unit and when he is not present, there is a marked difference.
Kante has one of the most impressive CV’s in the Premier League currently with two League titles, an FA Cup, Europa League and a World Cup to his name. He is a leader within the Blues dressing room and one of the best players in the League. He is arguably the best defensive midfielder in the World and Frank Lampard’s side must do everything that they can to keep him beyond this season.
The one trophy that has so far eluded Kante is the Champions League and he could potentially be tempted to move to Zinedine Zidane’s side in order to win this trophy.
