Callum Hudson-Odoi has finally signed a new contract with Chelsea. The young midfielder has agreed to the new five-year deal with the Blues which will run until 2024.
The 18-year-old midfielder has committed his future to play for the Blues and signed a new contract to stay at Stamford Bridge, ending all speculations over his future at the Club. Hudson-Odoi is deemed as one of the club’s most promising youngsters and will be earning more than £100,000 a week.
He had a breakthrough under then Chelsea boss, Maurizio Sarri, making 24 appearances in all competitions and finding the back of the net 5 times before he suffered from an Achilles injury. The injury sidelined him.
Reportedly, Hudson-Odoi was frustrated due to lack of playing time and was asking to be transferred to other clubs. Bundesliga’s Bayern Munich was seen as a contender to sign the young midfielder. Sporting director Hasan Salihamidzog said that they are really keen on the forward. However, a transfer embargo slapped against Chelsea forced the club to reconsider all releases as they cannot sign any new players for two transfer windows.
The transfer failed to progress during the January transfer window, but Bayern Munich were relentless in their approach for the forward. The German club even renewed their interest for Hudson-Odoi even with the current situation that the player is into.
Bayern Munich made a bid of £22.5 million for Hudson-Odoi, but Chelsea rejected the offer. Frank Lampard made it clear that he wants the youngster in his team. The new Chelsea boss said that Hudson-Odoi will be a big boost to the club once he is fit to play.
Now, Callum Hudson-Odoi sent a message to Lampard as the youngster scored for the Blues’ Under 23 against Southampton. He hopes to make a return in October and with his stellar performance, Hudson-Odoi will definitely be a shoo-in to be in the first team very soon.
