Chelsea’s new manager Frank Lampard has confirmed that N’Golo Kante will have a vital role in his new system for the Blues.

The former midfielder made an emotional return to the Stamford Bridge and was officially unveiled as the new head coach of the club this week. During the press conference, Lampard said that they need to be realistic as he gets ready for a tough task whilst a transfer embargo takes place after Eden Hazard left Chelsea.

The legendary midfielder, however, named Kante as one of the players he cannot wait to work with. He even suggested that Kante will be given a big role under his system when they start building the team on Friday for their pre-season.

At the press conference, Lampard said, “I think, I’ve said it out loud before, that Kante is one of the greatest midfield players in the world.

“In the last few years his performances have been outstanding, and one of the pleasures of me getting this job is that I am able to work with players of his quality.

“In the last few years his performances have been outstanding, and one of the pleasures of me getting this job is that I am able to work with players of his quality. Although he managed to win three Premier League titles for Chelsea, Lampard admits that they may not be able to close the gap established by Liverpool and Manchester City immediately.”

“I played here for many years, I know there are standards. Probably there is a base line of definitely being competitive, and to stay in competitive in the Premier League is a big ask. As we know the Premier League is the most competitive league in the world, but it doesn’t change the fact we should be there or thereabouts and the aim is to stay competitive.”

Lampard even acknowledged some variables that will affect the club, one of which is the transfer ban slapped against the club. The sanction rendered the club helpless in acquiring new players. He added that Chelsea need to stay competitive as well as realistic.
