Marcos Alonso is being linked with a move to Atletico Madrid, according to a report published by the Sun.  Atleti are expected to undergo a squad overhaul this summer after Lucas Hernandez left to join Bayern Munich and with the likes of Diego Godin, Juanfran and Filipe Luis also expected to soon leave.

If Alonso does leave, Chelsea may well have to look for a replacement from within in lieu of their current two-window transfer ban. The following are two players that they can consider.

1.  Emerson

Emerson would probably be the best option to replace Alonso if he does leave. The Italian arrived at Stamford Bridge just prior to the departure of Antonio Conte and has struggled to earn regular first-team football since. It can be argued that Emerson has just been unlucky and has not been given sufficient opportunities to prove himself. He defensive abilities are certainly good enough for him to succeed for the club. His attacking qualities do need improvement but at 24-years-old, he does have time on his side to improve in that area.

2. Kenedy

Kenedy spent the past season on loan with Newcastle and struggled to make the most of his opportunities, so much so that Rafa Benitez rejected the chance to sign him on a permanent basis. It was widely expected that he was surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge prior to last season but he could just have an opportunity to win himself a place within the Blues first-team plans ahead of next season in light of the transfer ban. The Brazilian is a versatile left-sided player who can operate as a left-back and left wing-back. While he has not lived up to his potential so far, Chelsea should give Kenedy more opportunities before deciding to move him on for good.
