Following the Europa League final, Real Madrid are expected to make a new offer to Chelsea for Eden Hazard. In the coming days, Los Blancos will most likely make a €120 million (£106 million) bid for the winger.
After the 4-1 win over Arsenal in the Europa League, Hazard confirmed that he will be leaving Stamford Bridge. He said, “I think it is goodbye after seven years at Chelsea.” However, the Belgium international added, “But in football, you never know.”
Last year, Hazard wanted to leave the English club for the Real Madrid, but he was told that he would not be sold. This year, Hazard has told Chelsea that he wants out and will not sign a new contract and would leave the club for free next summer, if Chelsea attempt to hold him.
However, the looming transfer ban slapped against the Blues may prevent them from acquiring new signees to replace Hazard. If the Blues fail to overturn the transfer ban, they cannot sign any new players until 2020. Reportedly, Chelsea owners are applying an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport to overturn the ban.
Meanwhile, Maurizio Sarri’s future with the club is still hanging in the balance. The Italian manager has been linked with a job in Italy should the English club release him. Juventus are confident that they can bring Sarri back home.
Juve are going to hold talks with Chelsea for Sarri, but the Serie A champions are not in a hurry. Juventus are also interested in Mauricio Pochettino. The Tottenham Hotspur manager have been on their radar for a long time, but the Spur believed that Pochettino will stay. And with this, Sarri remains the most attainable target for the Italian champion.
Asked who can replace Hazard, David Luiz said that only Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo can fill Hazard’s boots, but also named 18-year-old Hudson-Odoi. It would be a very interesting week for the Blues once everything is finalised.
