The Blues will commence their pre-season preparations for the 2019/2020 season in a few short weeks.

Chelsea will be flying to Japan and play two friendlies there. On July 19th, they will play Kawasaki Frontale at the Nissan Stadium at 11am (BST). Then, the Blues will face Barcelona at the Saitama Stadium, 11.30am.

The Blues will then head back to Europe to play Reading on July 28 at the Madejski Stadium at 3pm and on July 31, Chelsea will face Red Bull Salzburg at the Red Bull Arena at 2pm.

These series of friendly games may be an indication of how the Blues will fare this season.

Reportedly, Chelsea are going to offer three of their players new contracts, once Frank Lampard is announced as the club’s new head coach.

The club is said to be trying to tie down their younger players to longer contracts. It is believed that the club will make an official statement as to who the players will be once Lampard becomes the new manager at Stamford Bridge.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Mason Mount and Reece James are said to be in the list for new contracts under the Blue’s legend.

Mount was a vital member of Derby County where Lampard started his managerial career. Loftus-Cheek, on the other hand, warmed the bench more often under Maurizio Sarri. He was sparingly used despite a successful campaign at Crystal Palace.

James, meanwhile, is one of Chelsea’s loanees. He’s played at Wigan Athletic and has made 45 appearances.

The sanction that was slapped against the club forced Chelsea to use more of their younger players – both loanees and those at the academy. The transfer ban will not allow Chelsea to sign new players for the next two windows.

And with the departure of Eden Hazard to La Liga, the door has opened for Callum Hudson-Odoi, who wished to stay with the club longer. He was earlier linked to a move to Bayern Munich but a video clip of him training gave Chelsea fans a glimpse of where he will be playing next season.
