Several senior players are not going to be happy if Maurizio Sarri remains as manager of Chelsea.
A number of Blues players are allegedly threatening to quit the team if the Italian tactician ends up staying at Stamford Bridge. They are said to be keen to ship in this summer’s transfer window if Sarri will not budge.
A report, however, linked the former Napoli boss to a Serie A club. Juventus are reportedly interested in acquiring the Italian manager after Massimiliano Allegri left the club. Allegri announced his departure from Juventus after serving the club for five years.
Furthermore, the Blues are said to be keen on signing club legend, Frank Lampard, although Allegri could also be an option for them. Currently, Lampard is with Derby, and steered this team into the Championship playoff final.
It has been said that Sarri remains unpopular with several senior Chelsea players and a lot of fans, who have vocally criticised his style of play in his first season at Stamford Bridge. Sarri previously insisted that he wants to remain with the club.
If he remains at the Stamford Bridge, Chelsea could potentially lose a lot of key players who are looking for a transfer away – although no names were given.
If this happens, it is pretty dire for the club as a transfer embargo still lingers on against them. Sarri’s future remains in the air as Chelsea prepare for the Europa League final against Arsenal in Baku on May 29.
In another news, Olivier Giroud has inked a new contract with Chelsea. The French international recently signed a new one year contract with the Blues.
