Chelsea legend Ashley Cole believes that Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori are ready to graduate to the Blues’ first team. The young duo were sent on loan to Derby ahead of this season. The 20-year-old Mount has been impressive in the Championship and played 36 times for Frank Lampard’s side during the season, scoring eight goals and notching four assists.

Tomori went on to play 45 out of the 46 Championship games for Lampard’s side, scoring one goal and notching one assist. He was an ever-present fixture in the Rams defence during the course of the season. Chelsea will have to look at integrating players out on loan into their first team this summer in light of their transfer ban. The Blues were slapped with a two-window transfer ban in February after having been found guilty of irregularities with regards to their signing of young players.

Both Tomori and Mount are two of the most highly-rated young English talents. It would be foolish for the Blues to sell them. Both players must definitely be integrated into the first-team this summer. Despite being young, they have proven that they have what it takes to play in the Premier League. It may take a bit of time for them to adapt to the top-flight but they can develop into classy talents under the correct guidance.

“It’s their attitudes that stand out,” Cole said as quoted by Metro.

“You see a lot of young players who have not made it, not playing with the first team, and they are a little bit big-time.

“But these kids have got good heads on their shoulders, they want to learn. They want to listen, they train hard and want to improve every day and that’s what you want.

“I think Chelsea has definitely installed that in them. For me, both of them have proved themselves and they are definitely good enough to be in the Chelsea squad.”
