Former Manchester United and Bayern Munich star Owen Hargreaves has claimed that Chelsea youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi is a more talented player than Christian Pulisic.
The 18-year-old Hudson-Odoi is one of the most highly-rated young English footballers. In spite of this, he has not had regular first-team action with the Blues this season and has so far only played four times in the Premier League. Hudson-Odoi has attracted interest from Bayern Munich who reportedly made a move for him in January. The 20-year-old reportedly wanted the move to happen but in the end, the Blues rejected the advances of the German giants.
The Blues could potentially face a difficult time to keep the youngster. His contract at Stamford Bridge is due to expire during the summer of 2020. This means that if he does not agree to sign a new deal soon, they will have to sell him this summer or risk losing him for a bargain fee or on a free transfer.
With the limited time that he has had for the Blues this season under Maurizio Sarri, Hudson-Odoi has impressed and has so far scored four goals in all competitions for the club. He scored a goal on Thursday during a 3-0 Europa League last 16 first-leg clash against Dynamo Kyiv.
The Blues signed American Pulisic in January from Borussia Dortmund and immediately loaned him back to Dortmund until the end of the season. The 20-year-old will arrive at Stamford Bridge on a full-time basis at the end of the season. Pulisic is also a highly-rated player but has struggled for consistency this season Signal Iduna Park amidst being overshadowed by England international Jadon Sancho.
Hargreaves believes that Hudson-Odoi is better than the United States international Pulisic. As quoted by The Daily Mail, he said: “I love him (Hudson-Odoi). He’s 18-years-old and every time he plays he impacts the game,”
“But they have just spent £50m, £60m on Pulisic.
“There is no way he is a better player than Hudson-Odoi, not in a million years.”
