Former Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has revealed that he would love to see Blues ace Eden Hazard joining him at Real Madrid. Belgian international Courtois joined Madrid last summer and has established himself as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper in the La Liga. The news did not go down well with most Chelsea fans and if the Blues were to play against Los Blancos anytime soon with Courtois in goal, it is unlikely that he will get a positive reception.
Now he is hoping that his former Blues and current Belgium national team team-mate Hazard can join him in swapping Stamford Bridge for the Santiago Bernabeu. The Spanish giants have reportedly earmarked Hazard as a direct replacement to Cristiano Ronaldo who left them to join Juventus last summer. With Madrid not in good form by their standards this season, they are almost definitely going to push hard to secure the signature of Hazard next summer.
As things stand, it looks like the player is going to move. He has yet to agree to fresh terms at Stamford Bridge with his current contract with the Blues set to expire during the summer of 2020. This more or less means that if the Blues do not sell him next summer, they will risk losing him at a bargain price or for free during the summer of 2020.
Considering the instability which has prevailed at Chelsea over the past few years and the lack of consistency within the team currently, it is really not hard to fault Hazard if he wants to part ways with the club.
“It would be nice of course [if Hazard joined Real], but I cannot say much about it,” Courtois told VTM Nieuws.
“That is something he has to decide and Madrid must decide if they want him, because I do not know that either.
“But Eden is a top player and also my buddy, so if he came here it would be fun, but he has to make his choices.”
