Chelsea completed the signing of Christian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday in a £58 million deal.
Pulisic will spend the rest of the season on loan with Dortmund before joining the Stamford Bridge giants permanently at the end of the season. Pulisic is one of the most exciting young players whom Chelsea fans can be excited about.
After leaving the US in 2015, Pulisic joined Dortmund as a youth before and soon graduated to the first-team a few months later. He may only be 20-years-old but has already played 115 games in all competitions for Dortmund, scoring 15 goals.
He has also played 23 times for the United States, scoring nine goals and is a key player for the Stars and Stripes. Landon Donovan and Clint Dempsey are regarded as being two of the greatest players that the United States has produced but Pulisic is already nearing the peak level of the duo even though he is still in the infancy of his career.
Pulisic is able to play as both an attacking midfielder as well as a winger. He could ultimately end up being the replacement for Eden Hazard. Hazard is a priority target of Spanish giants Real Madrid. Los Blancos are still searching for a direct replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo who joined Juventus last summer.
Pulisic is the type of player that can win games on a regular basis. There is every chance that he will develop into one of the best players in the world over the next few years.
As quoted by The Sun, Pulisic said upon the completion of the deal: “It is with a heavy heart that I announce that I will be entering my final months at (y)our world-famous club… In summer of 2019, I move on to Chelsea and to and to a new competition, the English Premier League. It’s a privilege to have signed for such a legendary club and I look forward to working hard towards being a contributor to their team of world class players. Looking forward to working with Maurizio Sarri and his technical team.
“But for the next six months, it’s all BVB! Please do not doubt my passion, determination and my 100% commitment to the team right until the last ball is kicked this season. We all feel that this is ‘our year’ and we are determined to achieve the best possible results in all competitions.”
