Chelsea star Eden Hazard has said that he wants to establish himself as a legend at the club. This will surely be music to the ears of the club’s fans.
The Belgian international has been strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid. Los Blancos are still searching for a direct replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo and have reportedly earmarked Hazard as their priority target.
It will be a major blow for the Blues if they lose the services of Hazard. Since 2012, the 27-year-old has been a key part of the team. He is one of the club’s most important players and is the leading scorer for Maurizio Sarri’s side this season with 10 goals from 18 League encounters.
Hazard was again on target during Chelsea’s game against Watford on Wednesday, scoring both goals in what turned out to be a 2-1 win for his side. In the process, he scored his 100th career goal for the club and is now in 10th place on the all-time list of top scorers for the club.
It is easy to see why Hazard may be tempted to move to Real Madrid. Hazard may have won two Premier League titles with the Blues; however, the club suffers boardroom tension regularly and is one of the clubs which is known to regularly change managers. The Blues have also struggled to challenge for the Champions League since Hazard arrived at the club.
The fact that Madrid regularly challenge for the Champions League and have won the title during the past three consecutive seasons will obviously be something that will appeal to him.
In what will be good news to Chelsea fans, Hazard has expressed a desire to become a legend at the club.
As quoted by The Sun, he said: “They mean a lot… especially as we won today. One-hundred-and-one goals with this amazing club and something I’ll never forget. But now we want more. We want to score and I want to score more goals and be a legend like Frank Lampard, John Terry, Didier Drogba.”
