Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante has revealed that he is delighted to have signed a new five-year deal with the club, which will keep the French star at Stamford Bridge until 2023.
Kante’s rise to stardom is certainly one of the most remarkable tales in modern football history. Just six years ago, he was playing in the third division of French football. Today, he is a two-time Premier League winner, regarded as one of the best and most humble footballers in the world and also a World Cup winner.
In the 2015-16 season, when Leicester City pulled off one of the biggest surprises in sports history by winning the Premier League, Kante was one of the stars of Claudio Ranieri’s side, along with former teammates Riyadh Mahrez and Jamie Vardy.
After leaving Leicester during the summer of 2016, Kante joined Chelsea and helped the Blues to win the league title during his first term at the club. He was named as Player of the year by both the FWA and PFA during that season.
The 27-year-old is a gem and Blues fans can be delighted that the club has managed to secure his services for another five years. He is exactly the type of player that the club needs if they want to regularly challenge for European and Premier League titles.
Upon signing his new contract, Kante told the official Chelsea website: “I’m happy to extend my time with Chelsea, it has been two beautiful years and I wish for more to come. Since I came, I completely improved as a player, challenged myself and got some awards I never thought about. I like the city, I like the club and I am happy to be here for more time.”
