Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho has boldly predicted that his former club are capable of winning the Premier League this season.
The self-proclaimed ‘Special One’, however, predicted that this will only happen on the condition that the sensational Eden Hazard manages to maintain his good form as the season progresses.
Following the sacking of Antonio Conte during the summer as well as the departure of the influential goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois to Real Madrid, many pundits and fans believed that the Blues would struggle to secure a place in the top four this season.
Many also believed that Maurizio Sarri would have a difficult start to life in West London as the club failed to secure many big-name stars during the summer. They also failed to recruit a new in-form forward to assist Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud up front.
The Stamford Bridge outfit have so far been on par with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City in terms of their performances and if they carry on this momentum for the rest of the campaign, they could be in with a chance of once again becoming English champions. Mourinho does believe that it could be disastrous if the Blues rely solely on Hazard to take them to victory. At the same time, he does believe that the Belgian can guide them to Premier League success this season.
While speaking about Hazard’s impressive form so far this season, Mourinho said according to The Metro: “The results speak for themselves. Obviously, they are not playing in the Champions League.
“That puts them just in the Premier League, and in the Premier League the results speak for themselves. Very good results, top of the league and of course lots of good players.”
