As it does every year, the transfer rumour mill has continued to spin despite the summer window staying closed until June 9. With rumours flying about, one that Chelsea fans can finally take some excitement from is one involving Ousmane Dembele, who is open to a move to Stamford Bridge amidst talk of a Barcelona exit.
Ahead of the Blues’ trip to the Nou Camp on Wednesday night, it is being reported that Barca’s golden boy might be heading towards West London after the World Cup in Russia, as Dembele is expecting to be part of France’s squad. However, with little contribution the Catalan giants’ fantastic season, his place might not be as solid as it would have been at the start of the campaign.
The 20-year-old has been unlucky with injuries since his £105 million move from Borussia Dortmund and with the signing of Phillipe Coutinho, his first-team chances are going to be at a premium. With rumours of Barcelona’s interest in Antoine Griezmann, it could push Dembele even closer to the exit door in Catalunya. The young French forward’s sale could be used to fund a deal for Atletico’s star man which would play into the hands of any potential buyers.
Chelsea, who are allegedly top of that list, would jump at the chance to bring the France international to the Premier League, especially if Eden Hazard is to go in the other direction, to Real Madrid. Although, without Champions League football, attracting one of the world’s best youngster’s might not be an easy task, showing the importance of ensuring they can make the top four this term.
The signing of Ousmane Dembele would be a brilliant one for the champions if they could somehow secure it but if it means Hazard leaving, then it could a step in the wrong direction.
