Antonio Conte has admitted that Chelsea must admire the style of football that is being played by the “unstoppable” Manchester City this season.

The Blues are set to face off against Pep Guardiola’s City side this weekend and will be the underdogs going into the game against a side who have looked invincible this season.

“Manchester City was always a fantastic team, but after one season the manager tried to improve the quality of the starting XI, to improve the quality in his squad, and this is the result,” Conte said.

Chelsea must ‘fight for a good result’

“I think we must have great admiration for this team, because they are having a fantastic path in this season. Sometimes it’s very difficult to find a weakness in this team. When you work very well and there is great feeling between the manager and the club, you can work in the way you want.

“In this moment, to see an advantage against a team like Manchester City is very difficult. But at the same time, we have to prepare the game in the right way and hope to have all the players in good form and try to fight for a good result. For sure, in this moment, they seem unstoppable.”

Runaway Premier League leaders

City recently claimed their first silverware of the season in the form of the League Cup last week after defeating Arsenal, and following their league victory against the same opponents, they currently have a 16-point advantage at the top of the Premier League standings over their nearest rivals Manchester United.

Chelsea, meanwhile, have been in poor form by their standards, and their loss against United in the league recently saw them drop out of the top four, meaning that qualifying for next season’s Champions League could be a difficult ask for Antonio Conte’s men.

The Italian is also unlikely to remain manager of the Stamford Bridge giants beyond this season as he has reportedly clashed with the club’s board on numerous occasions.
