Chelsea may be set to secure a sensational £50 million transfer for long-time Antonio Conte target Alex Sandro this month.

The Blues were reportedly in hot pursuit of the Juventus left-back throughout the summer transfer window, with a bid of £62 million reportedly being considered by the Serie A side before they ultimately opted to keep one of their most prized assets.

Despite Conte maintaining interest in the 26-year-old Brazilian international, it was believed any potential moves for the starlet were off the table until at least the summer. Today, however, The Mirror is reporting that Juventus may be willing to listen to offers for the player, with the side already eying up Bayer Leverkusen’s Wendell as a potential replacement.

Chelsea keen to beat out competition from Man United

Jose Mourinho is also keen on bringing Sandro to the Premier League at Man United, but the publication claims Chelsea have acted fast to table an offer for the defender upon learning he may be available after all. Conte has spoken in recent weeks of the importance of the January transfer window to Chelsea’s – and perhaps his own – immediate future, and he is determined to strengthen a squad he has repeatedly referred to as “thin” and “threadbare”.

The Blues remain linked with Everton’s Ross Barkley, as well as the potential loan signing of a striker to back up Alvaro Morata, with a number of deals expected to take place in the coming week – especially after Conte confirmed he would not be considering recalling any of his young stars from their loan spells elsewhere in the country and further afield.
