Danny Drinkwater could be set to leave Chelsea at the end of the season as he grows increasingly impatient with his limited playing time at Stamford Bridge.
At the end of a week where they were comfortably beaten 3-0 Barcelona, Chelsea made sure they weren’t knocked out of the FA Cup. The Blues overcame a spirited Leicester side after extra time and booked their place in the semifinal at Wembley against Southampton. Goals from Spanish pair Alvaro Morata and Pedro either side of Jamie Vardy’s equaliser were enough to see them through.
It is no secret that Chelsea have been looking to sign a target man during this transfer window. They have been laughed at for their supposed interest in Andy Carroll and Peter Crouch, among others. According to reports today, there’s another striker that they are being linked to that would certainly raise some eyebrows at Stamford Bridge.
Leicester City beat Watford 2-0 yesterday to put themselves seventh in the Premier League table and a certain Riyad Mahrez scored a magnificent second goal to add another £5 million to his ever-increasing price tag. He is a player that is allegedly under the watchful eye of several big European sides and it is understood that at one time or another, Chelsea have been interested in acquiring the Algerian winger.
On the back of Chelsea’s goalless draw on Wednesday evening with Arsenal, they failed to better that result in their Premier League clash with Leicester City.
